Select Minerals – Barra Resources Drilling
Drilling was undertaken in late 2006 to evaluate the reliability of previous holes completed by Resolute Limited during 1996 and 1997. The program in-filled previous drilling, extended deeper holes where previous holes ended in mineralization and obtained representative samples for metallurgical test work.
The program showed robust geological and assay continuity between Barra’s holes and Resolute’s previous holes. Intersections are virtually true-width as all holes were drilled vertically into the near horizontal blanket of the ore zone. Mineralization was substantially thicker in those parts of the deposit tested where Resolute’s drilling stopped in ore.
Results comprise of:
• 74 meters grading 0.3% Cobalt and 1.0% Nickel (including 11 meters grading 1.1% Cobalt and 1.3% Nickel);
• 13 meters grading 0.2% Cobalt and 1.1% Nickel;
• 13 meters grading 0.4% Cobalt and 1.1% Nickel; and
• 19 meters grading 0.4% Cobalt and 0.8% Nickel (including 4 meters grading 1.0% Cobalt and 1.5% Nickel).
• 6 meters grading 0.7% Cobalt and 1.1% Nickel
Recent Extensional and infill drilling comprising of 88 aircore holes for 4,421 meters was completed. The program infilled previous drilling to reclassify inferred resources to an indicated category, plus a follow-up on recent thick high-grade intersections.
The program confirmed substantial widths of cobalt-nickel mineralization within the inferred portion of the resource and supported the upside potential of the resource. Encouragingly thick zones of mineralization were intersected outside the existing ore envelope. Intersections are true-width as the majority of holes were drilled vertically into the near horizontal ore zones.
A further drilling program totaling 4,500 meters is planned for mid-June 2007 to further extend mineralization to the South and West. Better intercepts include:
• 15 meters grading 0.58% Cobalt and 1.13% Nickel;
• 13 meters grading 0.24% Cobalt and 0.95% Nickel (including 8 meters grading 0.34% Cobalt and 1.20% Nickel);
• 56 meters grading 0.18% Cobalt and 0.71% Nickel (including 6 meters grading 0.29% Cobalt and 1.04% Nickel);
• 57 meters grading 0.15% Cobalt and 0.62% Nickel; and
• 41 meters grading 0.20% Cobalt and 0.75% Nickel (including 6 meters grading 0.12% Cobalt and 1.08% Nickel).
