Mineral Spectrum Analysis Tool

This program was developed to combine the recorded radio spectrum of a large number of mineral samples for subsequent wavelet analysis.

 

Complete Image Compression Codec

A complete image compression codec was developed without the use of any third-party libraries. This codec included features such as:

  • Huffman coding & arithmetic coding
  • High-speed wavelet transforms
  • Forward error correction coding
  • Radio channel simulation
  • Texas Instruments DSP implementation with a camera and serial port for transmission to a PC.

Business Name Generator

The Business Name Generator was created to provide a basic tool to list all possible name combinations from a list of prefixes and suffixes provided by the user.

Localised Entropy Calculator

This program was developed to measure the localised entropy through-out a supplied image. The purpose of this project was to analyse images of stromatolites fossils to give an indication if they were of biological origin.

Radio Channel Simulator for Image Transmission

This program simulates a random and burst error radio channel to estimate the effects of channel errors on wavelet compressed images.

Wavelet Compression Visualisation Tool

This tool was developed to demonstrate how images can be broken into low to high frequency components using the wavelet transform. Demonstration using a web-cam to capture the images for wavelet compression was also implemented.

Background Creator for PowerPoint

A basic program to generate single coloured backgrounds for PowerPoint and printed documents.
