Technology Research Development Process
IdeaBank uses a systems approach to create your online business solution, as shown below. Two examples of how IdeaBank uses this approach are given below the figure.

How does IdeaBank use this approach?
Example One
Consider a wireless security camera to be located on a remote property for viewing by your staff from several locations. Note that the step descriptions below correspond to each step shown in the diagram on the previous page.
Step 1: If the camera is in a remote location, power the camera using a battery system charged by solar panels. Connect the camera to a location with Internet access using a wireless link or satellite connection.
Step 2: At the point where the camera is connected to the Internet, run software on a PC to control and manage user access to the camera. An application server may be used to manage and control access to several cameras by multiple users.
Step 3: Deploy a website to give access to the camera from any location. Staff log-in with a username and password from any computer with Internet access. The website connects with the application server from Step 2 to retrieve camera video.
Step 4: Online marketing of this system is not needed unless camera access is to be provided to customers.
Example Two
Consider another example. A business requires an online store to promote their environmentally friendly washing detergents.
Step 1: No online devices are required in this application.
Step 2: An online database is deployed to store product information, customer details data and payment information.
Step 3: A professional business website is created for customers to browse and purchase products.
Step 4: The website is marketed using a comprehensive strategy of online advertising, link campaigns to improve search engine ranking, and a user subscription and email newsletter service.
